The general objective of the proposed project is to develop and demonstrate measures to improve sediment quality and propose sustainable sediment management in the Danube-Black Sea system. This will be accomplished by performing several tasks: developing and demonstrating the effectiveness of sediment quality measures, developing a holistic approach to water and sediment quality and management in the Danube, evaluating the applicability of the solutions and management approach to other river basins in Europe, and engaging key stakeholders in European water and sediment management.
