Course specification
Course is active from 01.10.2009.. The acquisition of practical knowledge in the field of applied electronics in complex electronic devices. Students become familiar with the design and simulation of complex analogue and digital circuits and the application of mechatronic and optoelectronic componenets etc. The main objective of the course is the preparation of students for independent design, simulation, manufacturing and testing of electronic systems. Furthermore, students learn how to write reports on projects and present them to an audience. -the ability to design and manufacture complex electronic systems;
-the ability to design and manufacture devices for solving serious practical problems of consumer and industrial electronics:
-the ability to design and manufacture of complex systems with optoelectronic components and sensors;
-the ability to design and manufacture of complex systems with mechatronic components and sensors;
-the ability to design and manufacture of complex systems which use modern resources such as the Internet, mobile telephone and microprocessor systems;
-the ability of work in a team The design, simulation and manufacturing of complex electric circuits and systems.
The up-to-date software and hardware tools will be used:
Software:
-programming techniques, data structures and algorithms
-C/C++, Visual Basic, HTML, Static and Dynamic Web Pages
-programmes for computer design CAD (PROTEL, ORCAD, SPICE)
-graphic representation design
-database technology
-software development, testing and documentation
Hardware:
-electronic system design
-sensor design, analogue and digital circuits
-microporcessor techniques
-IBM architecture of compatible personal computers
-PC networking
-mobile telephone network
-optical networks and systems
Furthermore, special attention will be paid to:
-team work
-technical documentation
-manufactured electronic system testing
-project defence and presentation before an audience The course matter is evaluated through a project which is worth 60 points. The final examination is taken in the form of presentation of the course project and is worth 30 points. The final grade at the course is formed on the basis of laboratory practice attendance, the completion of the student’s work (projects) and the final exam. The student’s ability to solve practical problems and present projects is of utmost importance.
