Course specification
Course is active from 01.10.2005.. Course which have preconditioned courses Power Systems
Gaining basic knowledge from the energy with special stress to the electric energy. Position of the electricity in the power energy mix. The basic orientation in the power engineering (DC or AC, single phase or three-phase electric energy, frequency and voltages). Structure of power systems. The idea of reactive power and two-dimensional AC electric power balance. Central position of the electric energy in the contemporary energy mix. The ability of students for sequence domain modeling the basic three-phase elements of power systems (consumers, lines, transformers, AC machines) in sinusoidal, three-phase symmetrical steady-states. The ability of students for modeling and solving simple exercises of three-phase power systems, as well as the power flow problem. Fundamentals of energy with special stress to the electricity. Fundamentals of power engineering: historical development, fundamentals of three- phase power systems. Basic elements of power systems: consumers, lines, transformers, AC machines. Substations for interconnection of power systems. AGC and Volt/Var Control. Power systems balance: 1) nature of power systems, as well as AGC and Volt/Var Control, and 2) basic power flow problem and its solution. Lectures; Auditory Practice; Consultations.
