Course specification
Course is active from 23.11.2018.. Acquiring the basic knowledge in the field of electro-mechanical energy conversion, AC machines, power electronic devices, modern power systems and renewable energy sources. Understanding the basic principles of electro-mechanical conversion of energy - understanding the basic features and ways of operation of AC machines - understanding the basic features and ways of operation of the power electronic devices and their application - understanding the basics of modern power systems, understanding the basic features and ways of operation of renewable energy sources. The basic principles of electr-omechanical energy conversion. Power balance of electric machines. Types of rotating electrical machines - synchronous machines, induction machines. Power electronic converters. Fundamentals of modern power systems. Renewable energy sources - wind power plants, solar photovoltaic power plants, bio-gas power plants, small hydro power plants. A course is taught through lectures and practice. In lectures, modern illustrations for intuitive understanding of the taught matter are used. In order to fully master the course matter, students solve problems in auditory practice, which accompanies lectures, thus enabling students to independently solve problems from the engineering practice. A part of the practice is carried out in the laboratory.
