Course is active from 01.01.2009.. The course aim is to present students with the knowledge on the regional development in the EU countries, with emphasis on new member states and EU candidate countries. It analyzes contemporary regional economic problems, including their political, social and environmental implications. All elements will be examined from theoretical foundations and empirical applications. Acquire knowledge on theoretical foundations of regional economics in European countries and on the methods applied in the evaluation of regional development policies. It is expected that students will be able to understand, compare, and critically assess alternative regional development policies. Also, students will be able to apply appropriate economic theories and methods for analyzing, discussing and presenting given regional development problems.
