Course specification
Course is active from 23.11.2018.. The aim of the course is to acquire knowledgeof students about the possibilities of energy transformation of renewable energy sources into other types of energy, primarily electrical and thermal energy. They need to become familiar with the principles of energy transformation, with basic circuits and devices that allow this transformation. They need to get acquainted with all the additional circuits and devices that make up one system. The advantages and disadvantages of certain energy transformations as well as the possibilities of combined use will be considered.
Students will gain knowledge about the possibilities and types of energy transformation of renewable energy sources. Knowledge will come from areas that are applied in Serbia, such as solar conversion of energy into electrical or thermal energy, converting wind energy, hydro and bio energy into electricity. The principles of energy transformation will be conquered. They will be familiar with the basic circuits and devices used in various energy transformation systems. They will be trained to provide renewable energy users with consulting services related to the use of different systems. The concept of energy transformation in general. Energy transformations in renewable sources, concept and types of energy sources and conversion possibilities. Methods for estimating energy potential. The state of energy potential in the world, Europe and Serbia. Overview of realized capacities in Europe and Serbia. Converters of energy of sun, wind, water, biomass, heat of earth: basic elements, principle of operation. Components of the renewable energy system. Characteristics and choice of converters, generators in renewable energy systems. Advantages and disadvantages of individual systems. Hybrid systems in energy transformations. Teaching is carried out in the course of lectures and auditory exercises. In addition to theoretical students, they acquire practical knowledge in the course of visiting various systems of renewable energy sources. Students are actively involved in the course through participation in discussions, group and individual scientific and research works. Theoretical aspects will be presented in lectures, while the practical work and simulations of the work will be done as part of the exercise.
