Course specification
Course is active from 01.10.2004.. Enabling students to think abstractly and gain new knowledge in the field of elementary, general, abstract and linear algebra, as well as in the fundamentals of analytical geometry. Acquired knowledge is used in further education and professional courses. Mathematical models are designed and solved in professional courses using the material from this course. Lectures (Theoretical lectures). Mathematical logic, set theory and set operations. Relations and functions: basic concepts, binary relation, equivalence and order relations, functions. Boolean algebra. Groups, rings and fields. Polynomials. Complex numbers. Free vectors. Determinants, systems of linear equations, vector space, matrices, characteristic roots and vectors. Analytical geometry in space. Practice lectures in practice classes: adequate examples and tests from the theoretical lectures are done in order to exercise lectured theory where exercises contribute to understanding of the theory. Lectures. Computing practice. Consultations. Lectures are interactive. In lectures theoretical part of the course is presented, accompanied by characteristic and representative examples in order to better understand the matter. In practice, which follows lectures, typical problems are solved and lectured theory is deepened. Besides lectures and practice, regular consultations are also held. The course is divided in two parts. Part of the course, which is a logical unit, can be passed within the teaching process. Theoretical part of the exam consists of test-questions and oral presentation. Practical part is passed through solving problems in written form.
