The aim of this course is to provide students with practical knowledge about how to conduct a scientific research. Students will be introduced with practical knowledge about library and indexed database searching methods, techniques and tools, electronic journals aggregators, quick and/or detailed paper reviews, reading and analyzing scientific publications, as well as how to synthesize research findings, in order to identify research trends and leading opinions of academics and practitioners. In addition, the student will be familiarized with the concept, importance and practical aspects of applying basic methods of research data acquisition, statistical analysis, and drawing research conclusions. Finally, students are familiarized with principles of research ethics. Upon completing this course and an exam, the student will be able to define research goal, research motives, problem of the study, as well as to develop research framework and research model. Using the basic statistical methods, the student will be able to analyze aforementioned concepts, provide valid answers for research questions and to draw statistical conclusions. Introduction to methods of scientific and research work, basic concepts, how to define research goals, motives, how to define problem of the study, types of research, scientific and professional publications, methods and techniques of database search engines, indexed databases and aggregators of electronic journals, methods and techniques of quick and/or thorough paper reviewing process, reading and analysis of academic and practitioner papers, synthesis of publications, application of basic statistical methods and drawing statistical conclusions in research, structuring and research results presentation, writing of research publications. Review of ethical principles in writing and publishing research publications. Lectures, research work, consultations. The rating is based on the success of the project and an oral exam.
