Application of basic, theoretical-methodological, scientific-professional and professional-applicative knowledge and methods for solving specific problems within the chosen area. Within this part of the doctoral dissertation the student finds the problem, its structure and complexity and based on the conducted analysis concludes the possible ways his solution. By studying the literature, the student becomes acquainted with methods that are intended for creative solving new tasks and engineering practice in their solving. The aim of student activities within this part of the research is to acquire the necessar experiences through solving complex problems and tasks and recognizing the ability to apply previously acquired knowledge in practice.

Allowing students to independently apply previously acquired knowledge from different areas that they have previously learned to look at the structure of the problem and his systematic analysis in order to draw conclusions on the possible directions of his solution. Through self-utilization of literature, students promote knowledge from the chosen area and studying various methods and works related to similar issues. In this way, students develop the ability to conduct analyzes and identify them problems within a given topic. Practical application of acquired knowledge from different fields in students develops the ability to look at the place and role of the engineer in the chosen area, the need for co-operation with other teams and team work.

It is formed individually in accordance with the needs of making a concrete doctoral dissertation, its complexity and structure. The student studies the professional literature , doctoral dissertations of students dealing with a similar topic, conduct analyzes in order to find the solution to a specific task defined by the task doctoral dissertation.

As part of the study research work, the student conducts consultations with the mentor and, if necessary, with other teachers dealing with issues related to the topic of the work itself. Within the scope of the topic, the student, if necessary, performs measurements, surveys, counting, surveys and other surveys, statistical data processing, if required by the doctoral dissertation.
