Teaching students about concepts and technical aspects of system software installation and package management and configuration management, maintanance and administration of instalations in an Windows-like and Linux-like environment. Upon completion, students are familiar with concepts and they have gained the skills to install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade components of system software. Fundamentals. System software installation, configuration and other issues related to that processes. Basic of Linux and Windows Kernels. Installers and package management. Installation via .exe, .msi, .rpm and .deb packages. Configuring installed system software. Troubleshooting the installation and configuration problems. Benchmarking and fine-tuning the installed system software. Lectures, Computer exercises; Consultations. The exam is oral. Assessment and final marks are based on the success of the laboratory exercises and an oral exam.
