Introduction to students with principles, elements and method of work of modern non-relational databases. After this course, students are able to develop systems using modern non-relational databases. Problems of large data stores and scalability. CAP theorem. BASE versus the ACID property set. Key / value databases. Colon-oriented databases. Document-oriented databases. Graph-oriented databases. Operations over data. Queries on databases.. Evolution of databases. Indexing. Transaction management and data integrity. NoSQL database in cloud computing. Map / Reduce. Performance of the NoSQL database. The forms of teaching are: Lectures, computer exercises, homework assignments and consultations. In lectures, by using the necessary didactic means, the content of the subject is exposed and the active participation of students is raised by asking questions. Practical part of the material students master on computer exercises through compulsory tasks that they solve independently or with the help of teaching assistant. The student is obliged to demonstrate autonomy in solving tasks, or to demonstrate understanding of the solution. At the consultations, students are given additional explanations of the contents of the lectures and exercises. The assessment of the exam is based on the success of the laboratory exercises and the oral exam.
