Course specification
Course is active from 01.10.2012.. Acquiring basic concepts and skills necessary for active participation in theoretical and professional advanced courses. The acquired theoretical and practical knowledge of an integrative character prepares students for proactive involvement and a deeper understanding of the more complex problems of the profession in the later years of studies. Direct application in theoretical-professional subjects, in the formulation and solving of engineering problems. Introduction to Civil Engineering. The history of construction through the epoch. Division of civil engineering into sub-discipline. Principles of Architectural Design. Elements of spatial partitioning and functional organization of space. Elements of building physics: light, acoustics, ventilation, cooling. Legislative in construction sector. Regulations, rules and standards for design. Planning and Construction Low - basic terms. Mandatory content of design projects. Urban-technical conditions. Technical documentation - description and content. Permissions and licenses. Sustainable development, environmental impact and energy efficiency of buildings. Building management. Profession and ethics of civil engineer. Elements and building assemblies. Combinations of materials and hybrid systems. Structural systems in buildings and engineering facilities. Load transfer through the structural system. Conversion of loads. Spatial stability of buildings and stiffening elements. Methods of construction. Basic types and elements of hydraulic structures. Basics of roads and railways. Basic types of bridges. The process of design and construction of buildings. Maintenance of facilities. Achievements in world and Serbian civil engineering. Course is conducted throughout lectures, tutorials and consultations, as well as trough occasional site visits. Lectures are presented through slides and video films that abound in illustrative examples which simply illustrate the physical essence of the phenomenon and integrate knowledge from different subjects. Tutorials (architectural and calculations) are designed to fully follow the material presented in lectures and encourage active work in classes. The independent work of students is continuously monitored. Consultations are held to deepen knowledge or to eliminate ambiguities. Presence at lectures and tutorials is considered compulsory. The student must satisfy the threshold of knowledge from every form of pre-examination and examination obligations.
