Course specification
Course is active from 01.10.2005.. Acquiring knowledge related with basic calculations in construction (bill of quantities, cost analysis) and acquiring knowledge of project management in construction industry. Enabling students to make calculations for the facility construction, construction cost analysis, as well as the selection and definition of technology for certain types of works in construction. Acquired knowledge is directly applied in the engineering practice.
Ability to apply the project management methodology in the construction industry at all stages of realization of construction projects. The acquired knowledge can be directly applied in engineering practice. Basics of project management and basic terminology in the field. Analysis of basic groups of project management processes: initiation of a project, planing of project realization, execution of the project, supervision and control of project realization and closing of the project. Analysis of the processes by areas of knowledge in the field of project management (project integration, scope, time, costs, quality, human resources, communications, risk, procurement, stakeholders). Basics of specific areas of knowledge of project management in the construction industry (security, environment, finance, claims).
Basics on defining the cost of construction works, as well as defining basic resources for their realization. Course is done through lectures (PowerPoint presentations), numerical-graphic tasks (ilustrative examples and case studies), as well as tutorials. Pre-exam obligations are: two design homeworks (independently or in organized teams) with explanation of suggested solution. Exam consist from colloquium, written and oral part. To pass succesfully, students must meet the required knowledge level from all forms of pre-exam and exams obligations.
