Course specification
Course is active from 01.10.2005.. The goal of the course is to expand and structure autonomous research capabilities among the attendees. This includes the following: 1. autonomous laboratory work, utilization of measurement equipment, application of technical and safety procedures, data analysis and processing; 2. application of scientific approach in the problem solving, research methodology, literature study, proposition of the hypothesis, analysis and synthesis of the problem; 3. presentation of the research results in the form of scientific paper, master theses and oral presentation. The final outcome of the course is the material needed for preparation of the master thesis. The material includes study of the literature and detailed documentation of the candidate’s theoretical and practical research results. In general, candidate acquires all the skills required for the scientific approach in problem solving in the specific area. The very content of the course is determined by the specific area and the topic of the research. Still, in general, it contains theoretical analysis of the problem, where the student makes the survey of the literature, analyses the problem and synthesizes the solution applying different mathematical tools and methods, and experimentation work in the laboratory that verifies proposed solutions. “Master thesis academic research work” can be conducted in an industry company, research institute or other institution that works in the corresponding scientific field and has established research and development department. The teaching is performed in the form of academic research work which includes mentor coaching by the professor and assistant and laboratory work that may include involvement of laboratory technicians, assistant and professor. If the “Master thesis academic research work” is done in industry company, research institute or other institute, apart from the professor that manages the thesis goal, methodology and scientific approach, the researchers or developers form the institution are included in the teaching process.
