Subject: Metal forming technologies
(17 -
P207) Basic Information
Course specification
Course is active from 01.10.2007.. Gaining knowledge, competencies and skills in the field of metal forming. Mastering the fundamental knowledge related to the theoretical bases of metal forming and mastering basic technological methods in the field of bulk and sheet metal forming. Ability to understand metal forming technology and their application in industry. After course, student will be prepared to design basic bulk metal forming (upsetting, extrusion and forging) and sheet metal forming (shearing, blanking, punching, deep drawing and bending) processes. The roll of meal forming in modern industrial production; Fundamentals of metal forming processes, stresses, strains, stress-strain relation, strain rate, yield criterion, flow curve, process parameters, load, contact pressure, energy of plastic deformation, friction, lubrication; Sheet metal forming (shearing, punching, bending, deep drawing); Bulk metal forming (upsetting, forging, extrusion); Metal forming machine; Advanced approaches to design of metal forging process. Lectures are realized interactively through lectures and laboratory practical classes. In lectures theoretical part is presented with characteristic examples for better understanding of subject content. In laboratory exercises samples, machines and tools for certain metal forming methods are presented. Also, during practical classes students calculate stresses, deformations and main process parameters for different metal forming methods which are then experimentally checked. Apart from lectures and practical classes, consultations are held regularly.
