Course is active from 01.10.2009.. The basic course objective is to acquire knowledge related to the application of power electronics in industrial drives, analysis of the electromotor drive structures, types of measuring and sensor equipment. The knowledge of the types of power electronics converters and methods of analysis of their operation. The knowledge of the acquisition techniques and signal processing in industrial environment. The knowledge of the control methods and industrial process management Design of power electronics in industrial motor drives. Importance of power converter and drives in modern industry. AC machines (induction and synchronous) in industry. Pulse width modulation techniques. Scalar and vector control. General characteristics of frequency converters. Sensors in industry - types and applications. Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and harmonics problematic. Standards and testing. Lectures and laboratory exercises are aimed to familiarization of student with modern motor drives. Also, students will gain all the necessary knowledge for individual and independent handling of modern components of industrial automation. It is planned to visit automation process in factory environment in order to fully understand the theoretical background of modern drives.
