Course specification
Course is active from 04.10.2012.. Objective of this course is to identify and analyze the most dominant sources of pollution of industrial systems, from an environmental aspect, based on the analysis of the materials and energy flows, as well as the determination of the segments and procedures to reduce and minimize the negative impacts. Identification of possible improvements of the production systems shall be based on the best available techniques (BAT), which will provide a starting point for the management of the acceptable ways. The expected educational outcome implies the ability of students to identify negative impacts in terms of environmental protection in industrial processes where may be extremely high pollution, such as the petrochemical industry, mining, metal industry and others, manage manufacturing processes in a manner that will result in reduction of negative impacts on the environment. Theoretical classes: Determining the biggest industrial environment polluters with identification of critical points in the production process. Introduction to the best available techniques for identified types of industries. Analysis of of materials and energy flows in typical industrial processes. Practical lectures: The exercises are dealing in more detail with lecture material through the practical examples, using modern tools for modeling and simulation of real processes Lectures, auditory exercises, computer exercises and consultations. Theoretical lectures cover theoretical part of the material, followed by specific examples for better understanding of lectured material. The exercises follow theoretical lectures; real examples are analyzed in detail, which grow into the tasks that should be solved in the exam prerequisites. Pre exam student responsibilities include the preparation and presentation of seminar paper. End part of the exam consists of written and oral parts.
