Course is active from 10.10.2005.. The basic course objective is to acquire knowledge related to the application of power electronics in industrial drives. Acquire of the necessary knowledge for implementation of electric drives with frequency converters. The knowledge of the types of power electronics converters and methods of analysis of their operation. The knowledge of the acquisition techniques and signal processing in industrial environment. The knowledge of the control methods and industrial process management Introduction. Design of power electronics for power and industry. The significance of power electronics devices in electrical drives. General characteristics and types of variable speed drives. Control techniques for speed and moment in industrial frequency converters. Pulse width modulation techniques. Loading characteristics of electrical machines powered by industrial frequency converters. Types of sensors in industry. Problematic related to harmonics and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The lectures and the laboratory practice are focused on the introduction to individual and independent handling with the elements of the industrial automation. A visit to the factories is planned in order to fully understand the theoretical and practically knowledge.
