Course specification

Course is active from 01.10.2004..

The objective of the course is acquiring knowledge from graphic processes, that is, knowledge in the field of organization of graphic production, printing, finishing, graphic products, basic materials for preparation and production of graphic products, quality in graphic processes. The student learns to understand complex graphic processes, recognizes the problems related to the graphic processes, and finds the causes and solutions for them.
Upon completion of the course, students acquire knowledge necessary for understanding graphic processes. After completing the course, the student is familiar with the organization of graphic production, printing (high, flat, deep, permeable, digital and hybrid printing technologies), final graphic processing, graphic products, basic materials for the preparation and production of graphic products, quality in graphic processes. Acquired knowledge enables understanding of complex graphic processes and will be used in future professional work as well as further education with special importance in the course of prepress, printing and postpress.
Graphic processes, basic notions, graphic activities. Fundamental graphic production. Organization of graphic production. Printing form, basic notions. Classification of the multiplying procedures. Printing, reprography and special printing procedures. Postpress and finishing. Basic materials for the preparation and manufacturing of graphic products. Graphic products. Printed information. Communication technologies. Graphic media. Graphic processes, printing with different techniques – letterpress printing, lithography printing, gravure printing, screen printing. Digital printing and hybrid printing technologies. Designing graphic products. Graphic product manufacturing processes. Printed packaging from: paper, cardboard, foil, aluminium, plastic and complex materials. Quality in graphic processes.
The teaching process is held using modern didactic tools and methods, interactive in the form of lectures and computer exercises. The lectures show the theoretical part of the material accompanied by examples and simulation of the solution for easier understanding of the subject matter. Computer work is organized in a way to complement knowledge in the field of graphic processes through virtual simulations of the process. In addition to lectures and exercises, consultations are also held regularly.
