Course specification
Course is active from 15.11.2018.. The main goal is to educate students theoretically and practicaly how to use finite element method in order to solve problemes in mechanical engineering that are described by partial differential equations Students are educated to formulate finite element equations, to make the corresponding computer program for solving these equations and to give a physical interpretation of results. General formulation of the Finite Element Method using the Weak forms in Linear Elasticity: static and dynamics..Displacement and Strain-Displacement ransformation Matrices.Imposition of boundary conditions. Different types of finite elements and shape functions. Siffness matrix. Requirements for Monotonic Convergence. Formulation of isoparametric Finite Element Matrices in local and global coordinate systems. Convergence considerations. Numerical integration. Computer program for Isoparametric Finite Elements. Variational principles in Mechanics. Mixed, and Hybrid Finite Element Models. Computer program for calculation of Structure Matrices. Numerical solution of Finite element Equations: Static and Dynamic analysis. Examples..Basics of application of finite elements to Continuum mechanics. Lectures. Computer practice. Consultations. In lectures, the theoretical part of the course content is presented and complemented by characteristic examples. In practice, additional tasks are completed to broaden the lecture content. Regularly, in previously determined terms, consultations are held every week.
