Acquiring basic knowledge from the maintenance management of the transport infrastructure.

Enabling students for the maintenance of transport infrastructure: problem identification, data collection and analysis, planning of preventive and corrective measures, contracting and control of the execution of civil engineering maintenance works in maintenance of transport infrastructure. The knowledge acquired is directly applicable in engineering practice.

Terms and definitions, types of maintenance works, maintenance technics, equipment and materials for maintenance, winter maintenance, maintenance management systems for transport infrastructure, contracting of maintenance works of transport infrastructure on the principle of Performance - Based Maintenance Contracts, maintenance management of transport infrastructure in terms of economy, environment, and traffic safety.

Lectures, auditory exercises, research papers and consultations. The lectures present theoretical part of the teaching in the form of presentations of individual method units followed by appropriate examples from practice, for easier understanding and convaying of the knowledge. On auditory exercises, lectures with more active participation of students are discussed in more detail. In addition to lectures and exercises, consultations are also held regularly. The student, on the basis of the obtained information (lectures, literature, consultations and general instructions at the beginning of the exercise), solves the assigned tasks and makes research papers. Written and positively assessed seminars are the condition for entering the exam. The exam covers the entire material presented during the semester and is taken orally. Grade is formed based on the attendance of lectures and exercises, evaluation of research papers and oral exam.
