(17 -
S1329P) Basic Information
Course specification
Course is active from 01.10.2007.. The aim of the course is to adopt terminology and basic knowledge in the field of wireless telecommunications and computer networks. Students should master the basics of communication protocols that realize communication between devices and infrastructure in wireless communication networks. The student should understand the basic principles and differences between wireless local area networks and mobile communication networks. Students will adopt the basic concepts of functioning of wireless local and mobile communication networks. Student will understand the architecture and protocols in mobile communications networks such as fourth and fifth generation mobile networks. Student will also understand the architecture and protocols of wireless local area network WLANs and the basic differences between wireless local area networks and mobile networks of mobile operators. Introduction and basic concepts. Basics of wireless communications. Architecture (3GPP) and mobile network development. Protocols in mobile networks. Protocols on the user-network radio interface with an emphasis on physical layer techniques (OFDM / MIMO). Evolution towards 5G and IoT services in mobile networks. Protocols in wireless local area networks with an emphasis on physical layer techniques. Simulation and evaluation of wireless communication systems. Lectures and computer labs.
