Introduction to language, phrases and forms that need to be met when writing scientific papers and forms. Expanding professional vocabulary with emphasis on the words that are useful and compelling when writing scientific papers, CVs and other forms. Introduction to gender-neutral language. Practice in writing clear, concise and grammatically accurate thesis statements and topic sentences. Introduction to the techniques of writing definitions and IMRAD structure. Enabling students to write scientific papers and certain scientific forms in English in a proper, accurate and understandable manner. Written CV and cover letter. Written abstract and summary.
Writing a biography, cover letter, abstract, summary, report. Knowing the structure of scientific papers and technical documentation. Punctuation of a scientific text and titles.
Classes begin with the short theoretical framework for the written form to be processed in the class. Examples of good and bad practice follow, with the discussion on their properties. After that, students write on a given topic and practice the usage of specific vocabulary, structures and forms.
