Course specification
Course is active from 03.12.2018.. The course objective is to introduce students to new concepts of power system engineering – generation/transmission and distribution systems, electric machines, electrical drives, power electronics converters. The course will deepen the knowledge in the areas of: modeling, analysis, power system operation and development planning, modeling and analyses of transient in electrical machines, regulated electrical drives as well as modern power electronics converters. The course outcome is the knowledge and skills of students for individual and team professional, research and scientific work in the subject areas. 1. Power systems (mathematical models and mathematical methods for their solution);
2. Power system analysis and short-circuits;
3. Power system operation planning and optimization;
4. Power system development planning and optimization;
5. Power system control (active powers and frequency, and reactive powers and voltages;
6. Electric stations and relay protection;
7. Electric machines (mathematical modeling, machine as a dynamic system, transients)
8. Regulated electric drives (control structure, microprocessors, controlled object)
9. Power electronics converters (structure, control techniques, new topologies)
10. Distributed energy sources. Teaching is conducted through lectures and consultations. Study research.
