Course is active from 01.10.2013.. Acquiring in-depth knowledge and skills needed for an individual and group work in the field of scene design and techniques, with a special focus on understanding and application of the 20th century principles of scenic art in the contemporary practices. Thorough and sovereign knowledge of the development of performing space in the 20th century. Ability to recognize and create a dialogue between the traditional and modern ideas in the contemporary scene design and technique. Ability to work individually on concrete artistic tasks. Spatial design of the contemporary performing events in the context of the 20th century ideas about performing space. Postmodern concepts of performing space. Places and techniques of realization of scene design art works. Scene design as art. Expressive and media means of scene design as art. Outcomes and forms of the artistic practices of scene design. Interactive lectures – a teacher presentation and obligatory conversation with the students on a given lecture topic.
Collective, group and independent creative and research student work on a project under the mentorship of teachers and teaching assistants. Workshops, in which the topics elaborated in lectures are analysed and connected through practical work with the students’ projects.
Student project implies the development of a conceptual design for an event in a given space and for a given dramatic text.
