Course specification
Course is active from 16.02.2009.. Course which have preconditioned courses Electrical machines and devices
Acquiring basic knowledge in the field of applied electrical engineering, electromechanical energy conversion, electrical machines, machines power supply and control devices, and applications. - understanding necessary background of elementary electromagnetic, DC (direct current) and AC (alternate current) current circuits and some elementary skills with complex numbers and phasors, from the aspects of their appliance in the field of electrical machines; - understanding basic principles of electromechanical energy conversion; - understanding basic functionality, construction details, role, typical applications and characteristics of synchronous, induction and direct current machines; - basic knowledge of power electronics devices application for power supply and control of synchronous, induction and direct current machines. Electromechanical energy conversion. Magnetic circuits and magnetic flux. Winding turns, sections and concentrated and distributed windings. Electromotive forces in windings. Magnetomotive forces of windings. Electromagnetic torque. Power losses in electrical machines. Tesla's rotating magnetic field. Synchronous machines. Induction machines. DC current machines. Steady state operation, equivalent circuits and mechanical characteristics. Machines power supply and control. The course includes lectures and practice. In the lectures, contemporary illustrations for intuitive understanding of the lectured matter are used. In order to fully master the matter, in the auditory practice students solve problems which follow lectures and enable students to independently solve problems from the engineering practice.
