Subject: Laboratory from electrical machines
(06 -
EOS14) Basic Information
Course specification
Course is active from 01.10.2009.. Precondition courses
The main course objective is to acquire basic knowledge about electrical machines characteristics, and the methods of their measurement and testing. - the knowledge of all types of electric machines and their basic characteristics;
- the knowledge of methods for recording various characteristics of electrical machines;
- the knowledge of methods and measuring devices for determination of various characteristics and parameters of electrical machines. Introduction (Basic types of testing. Testing during the production process, final testing. Official written documents during electric machine testing. General - visual machine examination.) Measuring of electrical and non-electric properties of electrical machines (temperature, speed, torque). General - open circuit, short circuit and load test for electrical machines. Methods for evaluating heating and efficiency of electrical machines. Induction machines testing (measurement of winding insulation resistance, measurement of winding resistance, open circuit experiment, short circuit experiment, load experiment - efficiency measurement and determination of mechanical characteristic, determination of power losses using indirect method). Synchronous machines testing (open circuit test, short circuit test, determination of synchronous reactance). DC machines testing (winding resistance measurement, open circuit experiment, determination of power losses and efficiency factor using indirect method). Transformer testing (winding resistance measurement, heating experiment, dielectric strength experiment, checking the terminal marks and their polarity). Lectures for introducing students with necessary theoretical background needed for laboratory practice. Focus is on laboratory practices, where students get the task in advance and independently approach to testing of electrical machines. Laboratory practice is assessed and the grade has an impact on the final course grade.
