(06 -
EM423) Basic Information
Course specification
Course is active from 09.02.2009.. Precondition courses
Students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Students are able to:
-model, simulate, design and realize ferrite EMI suppressors
-model, simulate, design and realize varistors as EMI protection
-design microelectronic circuits of EMI imune systems Sources and dispersion types of electromagnetic interference (low-frequency electric and magnetic fields, atmospheric discharges, radio-transmitters, transient processes following device power-on, the electostatic discharge). Practical examples of standard applications related to the electromagnetic interference (EMI) and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The concept of EMI/EMC protection in up-to-date integrated circuits. The ESD (Electrostatic discharge) portection. Protection components (resistors, condensators, inductors). Varistors. Ferrites. The simulation of different EMI structures. Imunity reduction. EMC measurement techniques. The power source filters. Shielding. Grounding. Principles of EMI imune system design. Printed circuit board imune to EMI design. Lectures. Auditory practice. Computer practice. Laboratory practice. Tutorial work.
