(06 -
EM507) Basic Information
Course specification
Course is active from 12.10.2009.. Precondition courses
Students acquire basic knowledge in the field of ASIC technology, the application of standardized industrial tools for ASIC design, and basic steps in ASIC design. Students who complete the course have the ability to:
-select adequate ASIC technologies based on the given specifications,
-design digital ASIC circuits using standardized industrial tools,
-generate and anylise the obtained results in ASIC design,
-simulate different simulation models of ASIC design Introduction to ASIC technology. The standard cell ASIC technology. The full custom design. Basic steps in ASIC design. The frontend and backend design. The design specification in one of the hardware description languages (VHDL, Verilog). Functional simulation. The static timing analysis. Design synthesis. The gate-level simulation. The floorplanning. The chip power and mass distribution. The global syncronous signal distribution network design. Placement and routing (P&R). The simulation model design following P&R. The design process optimization. Standard industrial tools for ASIC design. Lectures. Auditory practice. Computer practice. Laboratory practice.
