Course specification
Course is active from 01.10.2005.. The aim of the course is to acquire basic knowledge on modern storage systems: the types of storage, the storage equipment, storage technologies, warehouse processes, flows of goods and information in storage systems. After completing the course and passing the exam, students acquire the necessary knowledge on modern storage systems, their structure, capacity, organization. Based on the knowledge they will be able to competently work in or manage such systems. Warehouses (purposes; divisions; equipment). Pallet warehouses (types; construction; machines and equipment; input / output zones; warehouse management systems; automation; material and information flows; information technology and telecommunications; picking - concepts, technologies, path optimization and effectiveness). Container terminals (structure; machines and equipment; work automation; container terminal flows and information flows). Bulk cargo warehouses. Technoeconomic analysis. Lectures, auditory and laboratory practice. During the semester, students are obliged to realize a project on a given topic. Assessment of knowledge is based on the degree of active participation of students in lectures, realized project and oral part of the exam.
