Course specification
Gaining basic knowledge about designing, calculations and manufacturing machine metal structures. Readiness for the individual work on the design in the field of metal structures of machines. Basic characteristics of steel for supporting structures. Shapes of steel half products and final products. Basic types and shapes of machine structures. Types of loadings and load actions on machine structures. Introduction into the concept of machine structure calculations in accordance with relevant (SRPS) EN norms. Review of methods for conducting the machine structure competency proofs. Proof of static strength and deformations. Structural shaping, construction and proof of welded joints. Structural shaping, construction and proof of bolted connections. Structural shaping and special features of calculations of hot and cold formed members (steel angles, channels, tee bars, I-beams), welded box girders and frame/lattice structures. Load access to the structure. Selected problems of elastic stability of structure members. Preparation and manufacturing of machine structures in a workshop. Anticorrosive protection of machine metal structures. Auditory lectures, theoretical part of the subject, accompanied with practice examples. Auditory, computational, laboratory, and computer aided practice classes. In the auditory classes extend student’s theoretical knowledge. Machine metal structures are calculated in the computational classes. The gained theoretical knowledge is applied using the disposable equipment in laboratory classes. Computer aided classes include the application of commercial software for metal structure designing. Individual consultations.
