Born on October 5, 1974. in Smederevo, Serbia. He finished primary and secondary technical-mathematical school in his hometown. In 1993, he was enrolled at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, Department of Mechanical Engineering, majoring in Production Engineering. He finished his studies with an average grade of 8.06 and a graduation thesis grade of 10. The topic of the graduation thesis was "Revitalization of the organizational structure of the Faculty of Technical Sciences".
During his studies, he worked as a demonstrator-associate in classes at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, on the subject Designing production systems. From the third year of his studies, he was a member of the presidency, and in 2000/2001. became the president of the professional association "Community of Mechanical Engineering Students of Yugoslavia".
After completing his bachelor studies, he was enrolled in postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, Department of Industrial Engineering and Management, where he was employed as an teaching assistant for the scientific field of Production Systems, Organization and Management. During his postgraduate studies, he became a founding member of the International Institute for Mass Customization and Personalization, whose headquarters are located in Munich, FR Germany. During his postgraduate studies, he participated in several cooperation projects with the economy. He defended his master's thesis under the title "Modeling as support for the design and reconfiguration of production systems" at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in 2004. The research within the thesis, which includes work with specialized program support for system simulation, was done in Vienna, at the University of technology, under the mentorship of professors from the Department of Intelligent Production Systems and system simulation experts from the ABB company.
He obtained the title of Doctor of Technical Sciences in 2011 by defending his dissertation under the title "A contribution to the research of conditions for the development of intelligent enterprises", under the mentorship of academician Prof. Dr. Dragutin Zelenović, prof. Michael Poli from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, NJ, USA and prof. Dr. Ilija Ćosić.
From 2013 to 2020, Professor Lalić was the director of the Department for Industrial Engineering and Management, and from 2014 to 2020, the head of the Chair for Production Systems, Organization and Management and the head of OAS and MAS Engineering Management. Since 2022, he has been the head of the FTN MBA Graduate program.
From 2005 to 2006, he was engaged as a program manager in the office of the Vice President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce in Belgrade. From 2017 to 2020, he spent, with a permanent employment relationship at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, in the Government of the Republic of Serbia as an advisor to the minister in charge of innovation and technological development. He is an advisor for sustainable development and innovation in regional leading companies with a business turnover of over 50M EUR.
He is employed as a full professor at the Faculty of Technical Sciences and teaches the following courses: Strategic Management, Strategic Project Management, Electronic Business, Digital Transformation in Industry, Business Strategies in MBA studies.
