Course specification
Course is active from 01.10.2007.. The aim of this course is to acquire knowledge on the application of industrial ecology in order to identify key aspects of soil contamination in various anthropogenic and industrial systems as well as possible methods for their prevention and remediation. The outcome of education implies the ability of the student, based on the application of the concept of industrial ecology, to establish the basis for identifying pollutants and pollution due to anthropogenic industrial activities and define the necessary activities for the prevention and remediation of contaminated environmental media with a particular emphasis on soil pollution. The objective of the course is to develop a multidisciplinary view on the problems of pollution and land remediation. Theory: Establishment of the concept of applying industrial ecology to anthropogenic and industrial systems, systemic analysis of anthropogenic and industrial systems, identification of primary and secondary pollution and pollutants, modeling of industrial ecosystems in order to optimize pollution prevention and remediation measures, controlling the use of materials in industrial processes, dematerialization the basics of biodegradation of pollutants in soil, biological, physical, chemical and thermal methods of land remediation, the dissemination of polluting substances in the soil. Practical classes: The exercises are discussed in more detail with lecture materials through illustrative examples and examples from practice. Lectures, auditory exercises, computer exercises and consultations. The lectures show the theoretical part of the material followed by characteristic examples for a better understanding of the exhibited material. In the exercises that follow the lectures, illustrative and real examples are analyzed in more detail, which are defined through problems that can be solved in the framework of pre-examination obligations. In computer exercises, students are trained for systemic modeling of industrial systems and soil remediation processes, through the concept of industrial ecology. The student's pre-examination obligations include the development of the subject project and the presentation of the project. The final part of the exam consists of a written part. The subject requirement for the exam is evaluated subject project and exercises.
