Course is active from 23.10.2012.. To introduce the basic principles and laws of chemistry, to the students of technical profession. After completing the course and passing the exam, the student will be able to:
Define and apply basic knowledge of general and inorganic chemistry and understand all processes and phenomena of chemical reactions occurring in the field of engineering sciences. Matter, mass and energy. Chemical elements and compounds. Atom and chemical element. Chemical symbols, formulas and equations. Relative atomic and molecular mass. Mole, molar mass and molar volume. Periodic system of elements. Basic chemical laws. Chemical reactions, stoichiometry. Structure of pure substances. Structure of atoms. Periodicity of the element properties in PT. Structure of molecules. Chemical bond. Intermolecular bonds. Dispersed systems. Solutions. Oxidation and reduction. Types and characteristics of inorganic compounds. Chemical kinetic. Catalysts. Chemical equilibrium. Electrolyte dissociation. Dissociation of water. pH value. Equilibrium of electrolyte solutions. Methods of neutralization. Puffers. Hydrolysis. Electrochemistry. Corrosion. Corrosion processes and corrosion protection. Combustion processes. Toxicology of inorganic compounds. Lectures. Laboratory and Computing Practice. Consultations – individual and group. During the semester, students are required to attend lectures, laboratory and computing classes. After successfully realized examination prerequisites, students take the final exam in written (computing part) and oral form (theoretical part). Written part of the exam can be quarterly taken through the two colloquiums.
